Another Cozy Baby Blanket for Kendall

I made a baby blanket for my good friends Tammie and Craig and their special new bundle (at that time,) Kendall.  Well, Tammie  asked me to make another one because every time she tries to take the blanket away from Kendall so she can wash it, she has a tantrum. It really warms my heart that Kendall loves my blankie the best!!  :) 
So here is her new blanklie, just in time for her 1st birthday!!

Baby Blanket for a Beautiful Sweetie!

Friends of mine had a beautiful baby girl a month ago, and I just had to make this sweet child a blanket!  It’s not my best work, but she doesn’t seem to mind.  :)

Baby Blanket/Afghan

Hi Everyone!  Sorry I haven’t been very talkative lately. But I thought I would share a picture of the baby blanket/afghan that I made for my girlfriend Ruth whose cousin just had a baby.  It’s SO soft!

Green and Pink

Asparagus and diced tomatoes. Asparagus steamed first. Separate pan olive oil, thin pad of butter, and diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, and sauté. Then add asparagus for just a few minutes. I usually like my asparagus just steamed and a little crunchy, but I have to consider grandma when cooking, so certain foods need to be soft for her to eat. :)

AND…. I got a present in the mail the other day!!  YAY!!  Kathy sent me Red Heart Baby Clouds yarn from her stash so I could make blankets for EGF.  I love this yarn!!  Thanks Kathy!!!!!!!  LOVE YOU!

Monday Morning Show and Tell

Good Morning Everyone!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
The temperatures here have been about 10 degrees, but 0 degrees with the wind chill. Then by the afternoon, it gets to be a balmy 22 degrees! :)  At least the snow was light and didn’t cause too many headaches for everyone last week. We shall see what this week brings.  I’m a little concerned about my family and friends that live in Alabama and Georgia. They are getting hit with a lot of snow and ice right now. Can you please say a quick prayer for them to all be safe and warm? I would really appreciate it!

Well, the title says this is “Show and Tell”……
These small newborn Santa hats are going to Touching Little Lives charity. I’m going to eventually post the pattern, but if anyone would like it sooner, just leave me a message and I would be glad to email it to you!


These preemie Valentine’s Day hats are going to EGF. I’m going to eventually have 12 to send.  If anyone would like the pattern for the heart, just let me know.  I also made 2 sets of booties. I know I should make more, but I’m just not in the bootie-making mood. :)

NOW…. for my special Show and Tell!!!
This is my Christmas present from Kathy!!  She is my generous Earth Angel that God has blessed me with. I love you Kath! Look at all that yarn eye candy!! It’s all super soft for the babies. I already dove into the stash!!  I can’t wait to start reading the book, too! 
(I’m not sure when I’ll have time to clean, cook, bathe…. oh you get the idea!!)

My heart is so filled with love right now.  With just one email, my dear girlfriend “K” changed my whole outlook about the spirit of the season.  I'm going to savor the peace of mind knowing that I have such a special friend in my life.  One who loves me and doesn't take advantage of me, who recognizes my faults and doesn't care about them, lifts me up when I am down and even carries me on her wings at the times when I cannot fly.  She has an ability to make me laugh when I’m going through very difficult times.

She is My Gift  - my Earth Angel – sent to me by God to ease my path home.  I love you “K”!!!

Something Very Special

Hi Everyone!!
I received two very special cards in the mail, one a few weeks ago and the other a few days ago, and I want to share them with you!

This first card was a complete shock and happy surprise!!  I fondly and affectionately call Kathy my Southern Sunshine!  We have such a special and very treasured friendship that I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to have her in my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She made me this card, completely out of the blue!  Isn’t it SWEET!!!!!  We have a little joke about secret pockets, and she incorporated that into the card.  TOO CUTE!! 
This card was a “pay it forward” card that had something special hidden inside a secret pocket – which is “MY” secret!  hehehe!!  Let’s just say that Kathy is an extremely generous woman!! 

This card is a ‘thank you’ card that she made me!  Look how PRETTY!!! I love it!!!!

I Pray…………

I found this prayer quite by accident (although, are there really any coincidences in life? No.)  My very special and wonderful friend, Kathy, sent me some inspirational cards by email and they led me to this prayer.  It’s so amazing how God works. I met Kathy through blogging about 2 years ago.  And now?  She is a woman I have come to love, respect, and cherish.  I THANK GOD for His wisdom in having our path’s cross in this lifetime.  She is wonderfully patient with me, has the most wonderful and contagious laugh, and has seemingly endless compassion for all of God creatures.  I believe God brought Kathy into my life to show me what real friendship is. 

Angel Blessings for you all today, tomorrow, and always!

A Reason, a Season, or a Lifetime

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a reason, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a god-send, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, your desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered, and now it is time to move on.
When people come into your life for a season, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Regardless of whether the people in your life are here for a reason, a season or a lifetime, go show them that you love them!

Prayer Requests

Good evening everyone!  I have a request.  I have some friends who really need your prayers right now.  We are all going through difficult times and we could all use the added comfort of knowing that others care.

Hannah Stacks:  On May 4, 2009 she was diagnosed with a rare recessive genetic disorder called Friedreich’s ataxia.   She also is very ill right now and the parents and doctors are not quite sure what is going on.  Here is more information on Hannah.  Click Here. Tim and Kathy Griggs:  Tim with be going into the hospital January 19, 2010, for major heart surgery.  It’s very serious.  If you would like to learn more, please visit Kathy’s blog.  Click here.

Ken and Maureen Lindner:  My friend Mo’s husband Ken will be going in for surgery this Friday, January 15, 2010, for thyroid removal.

Homemade Christmas Hard Candy, Yum!

He Everyone! Saturday is the long awaited Girl’s Holiday Party. I can’t wait to see my girlfriends. Some of them I haven’t seen since before summer because I was so busy with the new landscaping and remodeling a couple of rooms in the house.

We do not exchange gifts because it would end up being too expensive; so instead, we have this party and everyone brings a dish and BYOB. Along with a few other girlfriends, I’m bringing desert and little goody bags of homemade candy for everyone. Let me know if you would like the recipe. It’s really easy!

Two-Week Update (updated 4-1-09)

Hi Everyone! I have quite a few things to share with ya'll. I have been really stretching my wings these past two weekends. As you already know, I have anxiety and panic disorder and most of the time it is very difficult for me to go to places where I've never been before or to places where there is going to be a lot of people and noise. Well, I went out Saturday, March 21st to a night club to celebrate my best friends birthday! I don't get to dress up that often and I enjoy wearing my night club clothes, but it always seems to be that we women sacrafice style for comfort with shoes. Yikes! My feet hurt by the time I left that night. We danced and had a really nice time, until I started getting panicky. Too many people and the music was too loud, so I left. Unfortunately, I couldn't calm myself down so I had to take Xanax when I got home. Other than that, it was nice to go out!

Then, we planned a bachelorette party for our girlfriend Laura at Denise's house, and that was this past Saturday night. I made a yummy cake (recipe will be in another post), chocolate chip and toffee cookies, and deviled eggs. I also made the 25 treat bags/favors. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it!

That night, we had a special suprise for Laura.... a "toy" party! OMG! We had a great time. This was our second one and we laughed just as hard this time!

So far, the past couple of weeks have been a great start to Spring. I am really looking forward to getting my garden started. I think by the first week in May it will be safe to plant my starters in the ground.

P.S. My birthday is in 7 days (April 7th) - 44 years old.... OMG!
