The Simple Woman’s Daybook – 2-14-2011

For Monday, February 14, 2011
simplewomandaybooklarge4

Outside my window...
It’s very windy this morning and the temperature is dropping back down to where it’s typically supposed to be for this time of year, in Northern Ohio.

I am thinking... That I’m going to need to take a nap today!  :)

I am thankful for... Where do I begin?  I suppose this morning I am mostly thankful for God and His Angels surrounding me with his light and love, especially when I don’t feel well.

From the kitchen... Not much happening in the kitchen. I haven’t had very much of an appetite.

I am wearing... Pajamas.

I am creating... a separate blog to have a place to post about my health struggles, etc.

I am going... Hopefully to Wal-Mart to get a few groceries and pick up a few skeins of yarn this week.

I am reading... I just finished Janet Evanovich - Sizzling Sixteen.  It was much better than the last two.  I actually laughed out loud at least 8-10 times.  :)

I am hoping...
That I never see my mom roll her eyes at me ever again.  (long story!)

I am hearing... The wind gusting outside, the humidifier running, and on occasion, my mother talking super loud. :(

Around the house... I need to do some housework. I’ve been neglecting it.

One of my favorite things... Is snuggling with my puppy, Frankie!

A few plans for the rest of the week:  I don’t want to make plans. Every time I try to make plans, they never work out.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

The Simple Woman’s Daybook – 1/11/2010

For Monday, January 11, 2010
simplewomandaybooklarge4
Outside my window... Very cold and a little bit of snow showers.  We have about 5 feet of snow here, but we are supposed to have a warm up this week and some of that snow will melt to a more manageable height.  You should see the icicles hanging off of everyone’s houses (including ours.)  They’re HUGE!
I am thinking... Hmmmm? What am I thinking?
I am thankful for... The new laptop that I got.  My friend Ruth bought a laptop that was way too fancy for her needs, so I bought it and will pay her monthly for it.  It’s soooo sweet!!  I’m selling my Dell Mini-10 if anyone wants to buy it.
From the kitchen... With a gift card I received for Christmas, I bought an electric griddle from Bed, Bath, and Beyond.  OMG!  It makes perfect pancakes and perfect grilled cheese sandwiches.  I can’t wait to try out french toast.
I am wearing... Warm lounging around clothes.
I am creating... I have been working on my crocheting a lot lately.  As you can read/see from my other blog posts, I’m making preemie baby booties, hats, blankets.  Last night I taught a friend of mine how to crochet.  Actually, she has crocheted before, but needed a refresher course.  I really enjoyed our time together.  It was special – Thanks Mo!
I am going... I might be going to the airport and hop on a plain for ???? just to get a break from this snow!
I am reading... Nothing right now.
I am hoping... That I can get more motivated to work.  I just don’t have it in me right now.  It’s such a bummer when you have no “oomph” to do anything but snuggle up to stay warm, crochet, and play on the new laptop.
I am hearing... The annoying sound of my mom’s voice while she talks super loud to my grandma (very hard of hearing.)  Grandma will NOT get hearing aids and that makes things very stressful when trying to communicate.  Now I think my mom’s hearing is going bad too!
Around the house... I still need to finish the valances for the foyer doors, paint the accent wall a new color because we do not like the color it is now, and a few more miscellaneous things.
One of my favorite things... I would love to go tubing/sledding, but since I have a hip replacement, it’s not really a good idea.  I think the most difficult part would be to walk back up the hill.  The place where you can sled ride nearby does not have a moving tow rope.  Bummer!  If they did…. no problem!
A few plans for the rest of the week:  I may need to fix one of the neighbors computers.  He called and I talked him through a few things, but I may need to actually go there and fix it myself.  Then the rest of the week I need to focus on work.  Ugh!
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

SNOW BALL FIGHT!

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

For Monday, December 21, 2009
simple-woman-daybook-large
Outside my window... A beautiful snowy morning.  The neighbor’s Christmas lights are still on and the glistening snow makes them look magical!
I am thinking... I can’t wait for the carpet company to come and install the new carpeting in the family this morning.
I am thankful for... Second changes.
From the kitchen... Not much going on until Wednesday and Thursday (Christmas Eve baking.)
I am wearing... A comfy warm red thermal top and cozy under the blankets in bed with my laptop.
I am creating... Preemie booties for EFG (Emmazing Grace Foundation.)
I am going... Nowhere today.  Just going to stay home and relax.  I had a fun-filled weekend that I need to recover from.
I am reading... Nothing on the book front here.  I’ve been either too busy, too tired, or too into crocheting.
I am hoping... That Kathy and her husband will be okay.  I’m worried.
I am hearing... My grandmother’s cat meowing in the next room.  He doesn’t like when he’s left alone.
Around the house... New carpeting and painting walls to prepare for new carpeting in living room and hallway.
One of my favorite things... Shrimp on Christmas Day. Yummo!
A few plans for the rest of the week:  Finish Christmas shopping. Just two more things to get.
Here is picture thought I am sharing... Me and my BFF, Denise!

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

For Monday, November 23, 2009
simple-woman-daybook-large
Outside my window... 4:30 a.m. (ish) - A quarter moon that is super bright. It’s really pretty!
I am thinking... That I really need to get to sleep, but wanted to get my Simple Woman’s Daybook done before another week passes by w/o doing it.
I am thankful for... The amazing guidance the Angels and God has given me.
From the kitchen... The kitchen is closed right now.  :-)  I’m going to bake a few pumpkin rolls tomorrow to take over to my brother’s house and to my friend’s house on Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately, I will not be seeing my Dad that day.
I am wearing... That’s my secret.
I am creating... Crocheting many preemie baby items to donate to the Emma Grace Foundation (EGF). Preemie baby hats, preemie baby tube socks, preemie baby booties, and baby blankets.
I am going... To stay home all day tomorrow/today and bake and sew.  How domestic of me!
I am reading... Not reading any books presently.
I am hoping... That the new year will bring me LOVE!
I am hearing... My dog breathing by my ear.  My sweetie is sleeping right by my head while I lay in bed and type.
Around the house... There are many little projects that need to get done before I even start to put up Christmas decorations.
One of my favorite things... Is to go bargain shopping at the local thrift stores.  It’s so satisfying to find something for dirt cheap, other than paying full price (or should I say…. Over Price!)
A few plans for the rest of the week:  Enjoy Thanksgiving with my family and friends, and to finish up the little projects around the house.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

For Monday, June 1, 2009
simple-woman-daybook-large
Outside my window... The sky is getting more ominous and there are dark clouds developing.  A storm is brewing.
I am thinking... that tonight I am going to go to bed early again.  It’s so nice to be back on a “normal” schedule.  By the way, did I mention that I’m jobless as of last Friday?  That is… I’m not doing any medical transcription right now.  I did get some project work from my dad and Connie (his wife) to keep a few bucks coming in.  I’m going to be working on the businesses store website.  Nothing I haven’t done before, so it should get straightened out in a few weeks (hopefully). The inventory is a bit of a mess right now, but that’s really no one’s fault. I’m going to focus on it and get it tweaked to how she wants it.
I am thankful for... Kelly.  She is a great friend and I’m thankful for her support when things aren’t always going too great and especially when we can laugh so hard about silly stuff!
From the kitchen... I haven’t been doing much in the way of baking or trying new dinner recipes.  It’s summer! The grill is working great all I care about!
I am wearing... Shorts and an exercise sport top.
I am creating... See my post from yesterday. :-)
I am going... To go to Ollie’s flea market tomorrow with Mom (I think).  It depends on whether she feels like going. If not, then sometime this weekend.
I am reading... The latest Oriental Trading catalog with stuff for scrapbooking.  There’s only one thing I would like to buy – thank goodness.
I am hoping... That I have a great summer!  I feel I deserve it!
I am hearing... The robins chirping.  I think their getting their last peep-fest in for the evening.  :-)
Around the house... One panel of the curtains I was working on over the weekend still need to be hemmed (hand sewn).
One of my favorite things... Freedom of speech.  (As Maxine would say, “Everyone’s entitled to MY opinion.)
A few plans for the rest of the week:  Curtain hemming, flea market shopping, and power wash the neighbor’s patio.  She hasn’t had it done in years and it really needs it.  Maybe she will eventually sit back there and enjoy her yard if I clean it up.
Here is picture thought I am sharing... This spoke to me and I felt I needed to share it! Thanks Isaac!

The Simple Woman’s Daybook

For Monday, May 25, 2009 – Memorial Day
simple-woman-daybook-large
Outside my window... The sun is setting and it’s a perfectly cool evening.  What a nice day we had again today!
I am thinking... That I’m grateful for the laughs I had this weekend.
I am thankful for... My MOM! (We might have our moments, but all in all, she is great!)
From the kitchen... A clean kitchen after a cookout with family and a few friends of my mothers.
I am wearing... Nothing.  It’s bed time. (sorry – TMI.)
I am creating... I bought a thrifty store wicker foot stool for my grandma to use while sitting in the family room (very lightweight and easy for her to move out of the way) that I’m going to sand and paint and make a foam pillow top for.
I sewed the holes and rips in 5 horse blankets tonight. Geesh! They were stinky! My dad and his wife have an equine business. Things are pretty slow right now though.)
I am going... To watch another Hercules Poi rot mystery tonight. Yay! Love him!
I am reading... Nothing right now.  Too much going on to get involved with a book.
I am hoping... That my friend Michael quickly gets through the difficulty he is in. (You wouldn’t believe it if I told ya’ll.  Unfortunately, no happily ever after this time.)
I am hearing... The sound of frogs.  I found a couple in my backyard by my little pond, which is one of those water feature things that I put in myself. It’s very basis, but pretty.
Around the house... There is a list of things to be done, but unfortunately, they are all tasks I’m not capable of doing. I guess we’re going to hire one of my mom’s friends son to help us get them done, as he is out of a job right now and it would really help him out too.
One of my favorite things... Since today was a day for a food… I’d say one of my favorite things for a day like today is Hebrew National hotdogs. (Is there anyone else out there that can’t eat the regular Ballpark hotdogs because of the fillers they put in them? I get so sick from those.) Anyhow, I like the Hebrew Nationals. They’re tasty.
A few plans for the rest of the week:  Nothing out of the ordinary.  Just work (thank goodness!) and love up my sweet Frankie!
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR Monday, April 6, 2009

 simple-woman-daybook-large

<><></> </> <><><></></></>
Outside my window: Snowflakes are falling and it's 32* (YUK!)
I am thinking: That I'm worried about grandma.  She is very weak and doesn't want to eat much.
I am thankful for: That I am healthy and capable of helping take care of grandma right now.
From the kitchen: I just made a spinach, tomato, and potato quiche (with cheese to be melted on top later, instead of inside of it, just in case grandma would like some.)
I am wearing: A long sleeve lime green cotton shirt and comfy lounging pants with oh-so-sexy black house shoes.  ;-)
I am creating: Another wheelchair afghan. This time purple and white.
I am going:Crazy Coo Coo!
I am reading: Nothing at the moment. Too involved with grandma right now.
I am hoping: That my PDA gets fixed soon because I miss reading everyone's blogs while I lay in bed at night.
I am hearing: Frankie breathing because he is napping on my lap while I type this. Precious!
Around the house: Time to make the Spring cleaning list. It has been neglected.
One of my favorite things: My roses. I hope they survived the winter.  We'll see.
A few plans for the rest of the week: Tentative: Thrift store shopping. Clean up bedroom, finish laundry, swap out winter/fall clothes for spring/summer clothes. Enjoy my birthday on Tuesday, the 7th.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing:

Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window... A beautiful starry night; a bit nippy, but brilliant!

I am thinking... About selling my laptop to buy a mini laptop from Dell.

I am thankful for... The companionship that my puppy Frankie gives me. I don't get lonely very often, but I was this weekend.

From the kitchen... I am tossing around the idea of using up everything in the freezers and pantry before ever going major food shopping again. Of course we'll need to go for milk, bread, eggs, etc. In fact! i have made an executive decision! There will be no major food shopping until everything else is used up!

I am wearing... PJ's

I am creating... Another lapghan for charity. The wool felting projects are done and there are plenty of scraps for another project....just not sure what that will be yet. I put the scraps away for next fall and winter crafting.

I am going... To the thrift store tomorrow! Yeah! I'm going to look for a nice spring top to make me cheery.

I am reading... Still Hercule Poroit.

I am hoping... The job offer that I have been waiting for has not come through....yet. Meanwhile, I did get some extra work for this week.

I am hearing... Quiet!

Around the house... I have to carpet clean one day this week. Mom spilled a large glass of cranberry juice on the tan-colored carpeting in the family room. (Bummer!) We got most of the stain out, but it could use one more scrubbing.

One of my favorite things... Sit in the yard with a fire going and the neighbors visiting. (Occasionly cocktails are involved.)

A few plans for the rest of the week: Best friend's birthday is Wednesday. We will be celebrating on the 28th. My ex's birthday is also Wednesday and will send an e-card. I think I will make homemade pots out of newspaper for starting my seeds in. I also need to ask my Dad if he has any extra or leftover chicken wire for my vegetable beds.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing... My Dad posing with one of the costumed horses at a show in 2005. He will be 74 years old this year and still looks so handsome!

Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window... It's pretty windy, rain, gloomy, and 42*

I am thinking... About my friends who are going through a very difficult time. One is going through a divorce and had to get a restraining order against the husband. The other friend is having one bad situation after another happening for him.

I am thankful for... The part time job I have. Hoping to go full time soon.

From the kitchen... My friend Kelly gave me her bread machine since she hasn'tt used it for over 2 years. So vey sweet!

I am wearing... Jammies - nothing special.

I am creating... I've been working on 2 lapghan's and a wool felting project. I'm really happy with the results. I'll post pics when I'm done.

I am going... To stay in bed for the day. Not feeling very well.

I am reading... Another Hercule Poirot mystery. I love when David Suchet is the narrator. (He is my favorite actor.)

I am hoping... That I get some rest today.

I am hearing... The wind whipping around.

Around the house... There is still a crafty mess on the dining room table. Also, we are all a little couped up from a long winter and now from nonstop rain and gloominess, so both mom and grandma are getting on each others nerves. It's tough being the peace keeper sometimes.

One of my favorite things... A warm bubble bath to soothe my aching arthritis.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Finish up the wool felting projects and get the dining room table cleared off! Pray that I hear something about work. Look into taking a few courses to upgrade my skills.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...
Isn't my mom beautiful!!!

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR MONDAY, March 2, 2008 (it's Tuesday at 2:50 am)

Outside my window..
. Crispy and cold! 2 degrees tonight and a lot of snow coming down again. *Yawn!* It's really getting old!

I am thinking... About how to organize the craft explosion on my dining room table.

I am thankful for... An email I received regarding a job offer! Yippie!

From the kitchen... Nothing special this week. Although, I did go to a thrift store yesterday morning and found a bread maker for $6.50. I didn't realize the kneading blade was missing. Searched all over internet for replacement, but the part is no longer being made. Oh well. So much for fresh homemade bread - For now! *Wink*

I am wearing... Jammies.

I am creating... Felted wool pillow and felted wool blanket. Also, working on charity lapghan #2.

I am going... CooCoo!!

I am reading... An Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie. I love Hercules Poroit!

I am hoping... Hmmmm? Too many things to list.

I am hearing... Room humidifier fan.

Around the house... There are little threads and fuzzies on the carpet from my craft project. Time to vacuum up my mess!

One of my favorite things... Laying in bed while using my PDA. It's convenient and promotes laziness!!
A few plans for the rest of the week: Just working and crafting. No money to go anywhere. :-(

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY February 16, 2009

simple-woman-daybook-large
Outside my window.......... 18* F with wind chill.  Another blanket of whiteness has me surrounded. Geesh! When will it end? (I can hear a bird cawing "I'm cold" to his girlfriend.  Poor things!)

I am thinking.......... of packing up and immediately moving to Arizona! This cold weather is depressing the crap out of me.

Another thought?.......... I have the Today show on in the background (no volume), and Bill Clinton is being interviewed. What do women see in that man. I don't find him attractive at all. I actually find him to be cagey.

I am thankful for.......... so, so many things. Mostly that my period is ending. I am looking forward to it ending forever.  I know.... TMI (too much information).

From the kitchen.......... I made scrambled eggs and toast this morning. I'm filled up and ready for my day. (Actually, that's a fib. I could go back to sleep for a bit.)

I am wearing.......... an ex-boyfriend's white Hanes cotton t-shirt and cute striped PJ bottoms, and cold bare feet.

I am creating.......... hopefully a Daybook post that is worth reading.  :-)

I am going.......... to the craft store and pet store if I can get myself moving.  I'm warm in here, and it's too cold out there!

I am reading.......... nothing right now. I downloaded the audio book Hold Tight, but haven't begun to listen to it yet.

I am hoping.......... to win the lottery someday!

I am hearing.......... the hum of my humidifier and it's getting annoying.

Around the house.......... the light is coming through my windows and making my room way too bright.  (Notice I didn't say sunlight, as there is no sunlight in my area until May or June.)

One of my favorite things.......... is to snuggle up with my sweet Frankie.

A few plans for the rest of the week.......... make a couple of birthday cards, keep working on the afghan for charity, hopefully check off a few things on my to-list, and thankfully pay a couple of bills.

Here is picture-thought I am sharing..........

Hi! I'm the Happiness fairy. I sprinkled "happy dust" on you, so smile darn it! This stuff is expensive!

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY February 9, 2009 (I'm a day late.)

simple-woman-daybook-large
Outside my window.......... the snow is melting, it's rainy and foggy. A pretty dreary day.
I am thinking........... that I can't wait until I am finished with periods!
I am thankful for.......... my sweet Frankie!
From the kitchen.......... I made a yummy dinner last night, oven-baked bbq chicken wings, mashed potatoes, and corn.
I am wearing.......... cotton pajamas.
I am creating.......... the same Valentine's cards that I was trying to create last week. I'm also crocheting a lapghan.
I am going.......... take it easy the rest of the day.
I am reading.......... other blogger's posts for yesterday and today.
I am hoping.......... that my job will give me more work soon. I work from home as a medical transcriptionist.
I am hearing.......... a teenage neighbor driving down the street with his radio blasting and going "boom boom boom." How stupid!
Around the house.......... things will keep for another day. Need time for myself.
One of my favorite things.......... is to crochet.
A few plans for the rest of the week.......... usual housework stuff, taking care of grandma, etc.
Here is a picture-thought I am sharing........... this is a wallpaper I put on my cell phone.
