Another Cozy Baby Blanket for Kendall

Remember this post?  http://melisas-place.blogspot.com/2012/01/baby-blanket-for-beautiful-sweetie.html
I made a baby blanket for my good friends Tammie and Craig and their special new bundle (at that time,) Kendall.  Well, Tammie  asked me to make another one because every time she tries to take the blanket away from Kendall so she can wash it, she has a tantrum. It really warms my heart that Kendall loves my blankie the best!!  :)
So here is her new blanklie, just in time for her 1st birthday!!

Craft Hope Project 12 – Bracelets for Russian Orphans

I’m so behind on posting that I’m playing catch-up with my projects, charity, gifts, and “stuff”!!  That’s what I get for being lazy!!!!!!!

The following pictures are my contribution to
Craft Hope’s Project 12 back in April and May 2011.  The project is over, but Jade seems to think that we may be doing something similar in the future for another orphanage, etc.

Click this link to see the project info.  http://www.crafthope.com/2011/04/project-12-orphan-outreach/

Baby Blanket for a Beautiful Sweetie!

Friends of mine had a beautiful baby girl a month ago, and I just had to make this sweet child a blanket!  It’s not my best work, but she doesn’t seem to mind.  :)

Crocheted Winter Beret-like Hat with Flower

Hi Everyone!  Hope your week is going well!

I just thought I would share a picture of the hat I made myself for this winter. It was a mixture of 2 patterns and some tweaking from me.  If you would like the pattern, let me know, and I can type it out for you.  :)

Sorry the pictures are so orangey and dark. I forgot to put the flash on and was too lazy to retake the photos.  LOL!!

THE SHOEBOX

image0031

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.
They had shared everything. They had talked about everything.
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little
Old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had
cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

 image0042

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but
One day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said
she would not recover.

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took
down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.
She agreed that it was time that he should know what was
in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls
and a stack of money totaling $95,000.
He asked her about the contents.

'When we were to be married,' she said, ' my grandmother told me
The secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'
The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.
'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?'
'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'

Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man; Love to forgive him; and Patience for his moods; Because Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death, Because I don't have time to crochet.

(My girlfriend Kathy sent this to me!! Thanks Kath!!)

Sweet Pink with Flowers

DSC03429 (Medium) DSC03430 (Medium)

This little blankie is going to EGF!  I received the yarn from Kathy a little while back and have been side tracked with other stuff, so I’m just getting back to using up some of this yarn.  I have another one on the hook right now, a really pretty blue color!

Hope Everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend!

Green and Pink

Asparagus and diced tomatoes. Asparagus steamed first. Separate pan olive oil, thin pad of butter, and diced tomatoes, salt, pepper, and sauté. Then add asparagus for just a few minutes. I usually like my asparagus just steamed and a little crunchy, but I have to consider grandma when cooking, so certain foods need to be soft for her to eat. :)

AND…. I got a present in the mail the other day!!  YAY!!  Kathy sent me Red Heart Baby Clouds yarn from her stash so I could make blankets for EGF.  I love this yarn!!  Thanks Kathy!!!!!!!  LOVE YOU!

I couldn’t resist!  hehehe!

Just thought I would stop by and post a quick picture or two of the crocheting I’ve been doing.

This was an attempt at a slipper. While I found this pattern to be easy to follow, I realized quickly that I don’t have a passion for making slippers.  :)

We’re supposed to get another bad snow and ice storm. I hope everyone stays safe and warm!

TTATO – This That and the Other :)

First, a little something to hopefully make you smile!  I gave Frankie a spoonful of sloppy joe’s and mixed it in with his regular food.  Look at his whole face.  His mouth is orange and he even got food on top of his head!  Silly dog!!

I’m using up my left over Homespun yarn for scarves.  These two scarves are going to be donated to Bridge and Beyond homeless organization.

And I wanted to also share a picture of my Prayer Box that I just made. I REALLY need one, so I took out some of this and some of that, and came up with this.  :)

My Mom gave me the Angel in a frame, and the Angel pin is from my grandmother. I sure wish I could say the feathers are from an Angel!!

Have a great evening!  I’m off to start another scarf.

Monday Morning Show and Tell

Good Morning Everyone!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend!
The temperatures here have been about 10 degrees, but 0 degrees with the wind chill. Then by the afternoon, it gets to be a balmy 22 degrees! :)  At least the snow was light and didn’t cause too many headaches for everyone last week. We shall see what this week brings.  I’m a little concerned about my family and friends that live in Alabama and Georgia. They are getting hit with a lot of snow and ice right now. Can you please say a quick prayer for them to all be safe and warm? I would really appreciate it!

Well, the title says this is “Show and Tell”……
These small newborn Santa hats are going to
Touching Little Lives charity. I’m going to eventually post the pattern, but if anyone would like it sooner, just leave me a message and I would be glad to email it to you!

These preemie Valentine’s Day hats are going to EGF. I’m going to eventually have 12 to send.  If anyone would like the pattern for the heart, just let me know.  I also made 2 sets of booties. I know I should make more, but I’m just not in the bootie-making mood. :)

NOW…. for my special Show and Tell!!!
This is my Christmas present from Kathy!!  She is my generous Earth Angel that God has blessed me with. I love you Kath! Look at all that yarn eye candy!! It’s all super soft for the babies. I already dove into the stash!!  I can’t wait to start reading the book, too!
(I’m not sure when I’ll have time to clean, cook, bathe…. oh you get the idea!!)

Hope everyone has a great Monday and a great week!!
