Apple Crisp Recipe and Apple Peeler Gadget

APPLE CRISP

(I usually double this recipe.)

6 large peeled and sliced Granny Smith apples

Preheat oven to 350*

Apple mixture ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

Combine sugar, water, cinnamon and salt and pour over sliced apples.

Topping Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/2 stick of butter (6 tsp) (do not melt - let it soften naturally)
2 Tbls brown sugar
10 cinnamon graham crackers - coarsely chopped (about 1-1/2 cups)

Combine flour and sugar in a medium bowl. Cut-in the butter with a pastry blender (if you don't have a pastry blender, use 2 butter knives in a cris-cross cutting motion) until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

Gently stir in coarsely chopped graham crackers, and then sprinkle this topping over apples. Cover loosely with foil.

Bake for 30 minutes or until apples are tender. Then remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes to brown the top.
